Penalosa Farms in Victorias City, Negros Occidental

Where Mother Nature and Father Business Rock & Roll

Penalosa Farms is an privately owned organic farm which promotes the use of natural farming systems and pesticide free vegetables and livestock agriculture. The farm is owned by the Penalosa family, who are staunch advocates of the concept of "edible landscape".

Seminars are open to LGUs, farmers or even city slickers who wants to learn and earn by farming without the need for commercially made pesticides.

Penalosa Farms is located 30 minutes north of Bacolod City in Victorias, which is more popularly known as the locale of the sugar producing behemoth, the Victorias Milling Company.

"No Filipino will go hungry in his native land" is an apt catchphrase for the Penalosa Farms' noble quest to educate people that there is money to be made in farming.

Students and families will enjoy the engaging lectures on how the farm is run the environment friendly way.

And of course do not miss out on the superb organic meals served at Cafe Organico located inside the premises of the farm.

Contact T3Centre for a tour package to include a visit to Penalosa Farms.

Rice Harvesting Experience at The Quiet Place Farm Resort

Learning how rice is cultivated and the process of farming until it ends up on your plate.

The Quiet Place Farm Resort is part of a fully functioning agricultural estate in Bago City, an area planted mostly to rice in the largely sugar producing province of Negros Occidental. Just a 25 minute drive from the center of Bacolod City.

Starts off with a brief lecture by Mang Metong on how rice is cultivated with coordinator Betsy Gazo.

Short trot to the rice fields.

Rice looks golden when when ready for harvest.

Mang Metong show the way to use the garab(scythe).

We are harvesting rice!

Tools of the trade. The garab and the saklit.

Harvest is done and all bundled up!

Refreshing cold towels greets us at the pavilion.

And yummy breakfast too!.

Not a morsel left after learning rice farming and experiencing all the hard work put into each spoonful of rice. A clean plate on every meal is now a must for me!
